Sunday Mornin' Hope : Fly like a 'beagle'

Post by Psalmist on July 16th 2011, 11:07 pm

Remember that cartoon where Snoopy (Charlie Brown) was in his element and fantasy. He would be on top of the dog house fighting it out with the Red Baron. It was his dream to do this. We all have dreams and fantasies to do the impossible. Sometimes we need to take a break from the struggles of today and get on our bikes and ride. One of my friends calls it 'cycle-therapy'.

In a world of high stress we need some help. The economy is in the tank and utilities are in the clouds. You're not guaranteed your job and things are pretty stressed everywhere. Take a moment and watch this video called "Fly like an Eagle".

Amazing to watch that eagle soar effortlessly. It's not worried about tomorrow. It takes it one day at a time. We could learn a lesson there. Someone said "God is always on time. But He's missed alot of great opportunities to be early."

Mt 6:30 "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

Mt 6:34 "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

When you get real stressed out, go for a ride, and talk to God. A few weeks ago I was riding from Fort Smith AR to Springfield, IL. I went thru two major rains where cars and trucks had pulled over. I kept going because I knew it had to break sometime. As I got into St Louis there were signs that the road to the bridge was closed. After solving that in the rain, I was in the clear and then it stopped raining. I rode to my destination of Springfield, but it was so nice and cool I rode on. I planned to stop in Beloit. But when I got there, it was so nice I rode on. When I got to Rockford I decided to stop for the night. As I was riding thru IL, I was so in my element. Actually I was "in" God's element. I began to thank Him for all I have. I have the greatest family and friends a person could ever ask for. Even in your stress times, take a moment to thank God for what you do have.

It's the little things we usually miss, that are the greatest moments in our lives. There's a story about a man that kept a journal. He was a very busy man and very stressed. One night he wrote in his journal; "What an LOUSY day! I spent it with my son and nothing went right. I hated the day. I'll never do that again." When he finished writing, he closed his journal and walked in to tuck his young son in for bed. The son fell asleep while writing a paper for school. Part of it read "What a fantastik day! I spent the whole day with my dad!!"

Before you say something REALLY stupid or do something you shouldn't, get your helmet and ride that steel horse. Then when you come back, think before you speak.

Jas 1:19 - You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger;

I'm praying for you. I hope you have a fantastic week and get some good riding in. Talk to Jesus while you ride. He's always listening.
