Sunday Mornin' Hope : Cravings

Post by Psalmist on July 23rd 2011, 10:25 pm

What do you crave right now? When you finish this, post what it is.
Thanks

I was reading a post by my brother where he asked the same question. My answer was (still is) chocolate. It's one of my five major food groups.

I believe in heaven there will be chocolate stands. And it won't be that non-fat or sugar free type. This will be the richest sweetest chocolate never dreamed of. After working today on a wood splitter (unsuccessfully) I decided to take it back to my friend. I called him and told him I was bringing it back and thanked him for letting me borrow it. Before I hung up I asked him if he had any chocolate cake (in a joking way). He said he just made some chocolate chip cookies !! There is a God in heaven.

Some of you crave food. Some crave relationships. Some of you even crave chrome and leather. You 'need' one more piece on that bike to really make it right. Don't ask how I know this. Every biker and musician is always almost there. With one more...... they will be there; for a short time.

Jesus tells a story about a woman that wanted something she couldn't get on her own.

Luke 18:1-8
1 Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, 2 saying, "In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. 3 "There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, `Give me legal protection from my opponent.' 4 "For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, `Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.' " 6 And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge said; 7 now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? 8 "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"

Why is Jesus telling this story? Because He wants YOU to persist in asking for whatever it is you need. Do you need help in an area? Do you need a miracle? Then ask for it.

Joh 16:23 -
"In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.

I'm not saying God is a Santa waiting for your list. He's not bound to give you everything at any given moment. But He loves to surprise us. Two weeks ago in church we prayed for rain. Before the hour was over, it was raining in the parking lots. Oh yeah, without a cloud in the sky. I called one of my rich friends that lives just out of the city, the next day. He said "It rained last night at my house but there were no clouds!" I told him I knew why Wink . God's love to us is unconditional. He gives it regardless of who and how we live. But I believe many of His gifts come thru relationship. He desires to give you everything you desire, BUT He can't cuz He knows what would happen. Are you in relationship with Jesus Christ? Is He #1 in your life? Do you have trouble trying NOT to talk about Him or sing about Him? I do.

I really enjoy praying for my waitress in a restaurant or clerk in Wal Mart. Some friends and I went to a pizza place last week. The Lord told me to pray for the owners, so they came and received it joyfully. While in prayer, I was getting a 'download' for one of the guys I came with. After the owners left, I gave that word to my friend, which kinda shocked him. No one knew what he was going thru; especially me. But the word brought confirmation and encouragement. As you step out in faith and boldness, the Lord will give you words to encourage those around you. Crave to be used by God at all times. He will.

Ps 37:4 -
Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.

A few years ago we were having family movie night. My wife Patty brought me in a bowl of ice cream and Martha Stewarts (recipe) hot fudge. If you've never tried this hot fudge, you've never had hot fudge. It is simply the best. I'm sure she got it from God. It WILL be in heaven..I hope. As we were watching the movie, my 10 yr old daughter sat up from the floor and said to me "I want your pippen." I responded "This is daddy's pippen. Go in the kitchen and mom will give you some." She sat back down and watched the movie for a few agonizing minutes, then sat back up. "I really want your pippen." Again I responded for her to go to the kitchen and get her own. Again she sat down for a short time. THEN she got up and put her hands on my knees and her knees on my knees. She walked up my body sitting in my big lazyboy chair. When her forhead hit my forhead and we were one BIG eyeball in the middle, she said in a firm voice "I want your pippen daddy and I want it NOW!" We laughed and I said "Sit down here with me and let's have some pippen." All along I wanted to give it to her. But I wanted to know if she was really wanting it.

Jesus was making the point in the parable do you really want this... If you are in relationship with Jesus Christ, He will lavish gifts on you, more than you deserve. I know he gave me my bike. Remember I'm praying for you. I hope it's the best week of your life. Make it the best!

Dino

Thanks Dino. My biggest craving is for knowledge, you can never learn too much. Barbeque is a close second though. TU

Thumbs Up on the post, Dino. As Joe said Knowledge is great, but right now some of my mom's chocolate gravy and biscuits would be good.

A long ride does sound good right now. Unfortunately, here we are in a broiler. It's supposed to be 109 in a couple of days. We've had broken the record with 20 days over 100' !! This is getting old quick.
