DINO, and the rest of you.

Post by whitetrash on August 26th 2011, 9:38 am

I am putting this in the General area because I want to hear what everyone thinks. I could have sent Dino or Eric a PM and handled it. If Ray or Joe think it should be removed that is fine. The topic will be God and Religion.

What God do you pray to?When I send prayers out to friends on this forum I am pretty sure that I am Not praying to the same God that you do if you are following the Bible. Now we can get in to my main concern and why I am confused. This has bothered me for decades and there is now a thread about it on the OA.

If you are a serial killer and do evil for your entire life then in your last days you accept God you are going to Heaven?

If you go through your entire life doing good and helping people but have not formally accepted God then you are doomed to spend eternity in Hell?

I just have Big Problems with that concept. How about the guy who Rapes and Kills kids for his entire life and then becomes a " Christian ". He is going to Heaven? This sounds like a Vengeful God to me and not a Loving or Caring God.

Am I the only one here who believes in a different God than the one in the Bible? Do all of you take the bible as the Final Word in what you believe? This is the end of my Rant and I will turn this over to the fine people of Biker Haven.-------- Coffee

Larry That is a great question. Bill, 'hell' has no hope.

I believe the Bible was written accurately from front to back by fallible men under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Will a baby molester, rapist, murderer, etc ever get to heaven? If it was up to us... never. But there was a man on the cross next to Jesus that asked Jesus to remember him. Jesus said "This day you'll be with me in paradise." At the point of death I believe Jesus took the murderer by the arm and they walked into paradise together. I believe 'paradise' itself is like a giant field/playground for those that have not entered the gates of heaven because the time of the 'judgement seat' has not yet arrived. ( Silly probably, but my concept is like that movie "Wizard of Oz" when they are almost to the Emerald city.) Next to 'paradise' is a form of train station where ski lift cars are letting Christians out. Other family members are there to welcome and embrace our arrival. I think my dad is there waiting for me. I'm going thru a hard radiation right now on my right hip and they just changed my chemo to a stronger type. How much time do I/we have left here. Not too much, I think.

There is a sin that is unforgivable. It is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. A young lady (friend of mine) came to me once in my office. She had a sordid past (stripper in a club..etc). She asked "Can God forgive me? I've committed the unpardonable sin." I asked "What did you do?" She responded "Well I'm not sure, but I must've done it." I laughed and gave her a big hug. I explained to her that the unpardonable sin is when you make fun of the Holy Spirit or deny His power and existence. Can God forgive our stupidity? Sure. Have we said things wrong? All the time. Is God obligated to answer every prayer? No, but He hears them. If a stranger asks you for $100, will you give it to them? If your child or best friend asks you for it, you'll do all you can to provide it. The only sins God can't forgive are those NOT repented of.

What God do I pray to? another fine question. I pray to the author and finisher of my faith: God the father of Jesus Christ. I could list the names.. but it would be lengthy. The Bible tells us clearly we are not saved by works yet faith without works is dead. It is by Amazing Grace that we are saved. God doesn't send anyone to hell. It is their refusal to repent of sin and ask Jesus into their hearts that they send themselves to hell. Jesus doesn't want anyone to perish. While in Bible college I asked a grad school prof "Who do we pray to?" He gave me one of the best answers "We pray to the Father thru the Son by the Holy Spirit." I hope that helps a little. And I do take the Bible as the final word. To quote Peter "Where else can I go?" I know my time is short, but after this I'm gonna dance again. I hope to meet you in heaven. I'll be at gate 7. Come look for me and we'll go riding.

Amen Dino. I also hear Trash. Some things I just don't understand but am extremely thankful he is also very forgiving.

Larry, I'm not ignoring this post, I'm just out of town until Tuesday and can't really put the thought into it that it deserves. I'll respond next week.

Yes to all three Bill. I was raised in church and the love of God was always in my home. BUT I also played in a rock band thru much of high school and my best friend/drummer died from alcohol/drugs. So I wasn't totally sheltered. I want and try to live in a reasoning type of way and Jesus' teachings just make sense to me. It's very logical to see people come and go, live and die. I've had to deal with much heartache from things I can't control. To see people on the news last night saying "We're going to ride out the storm...." really blows my mind. Kinda reminds me of the movie in the 70's "The Posiedan Adventure" when that WALL of water was coming to flip the ship. What part of 'evacuate' don't they understand?

Thanks Jeff. I don't have all the answers yet either. But I know who is.

Well said Dino. As far as understanding and believing the bible. That requires lots of reading, studying and meditation. Understanding Gods word is not an easy thing and you will only understand/comprehend what God allows. It is possible for two men to read the exact same scripture and learn two completely different lessons. It is also possible for a person the read that same scripture and not understand any of it. That being said, I believe the scripture is the infallible word of God even though I do not understand some of it.

about the only thing i know for sure , there has to be a higher being that made us , we are way to complex , to have just popped up from under a rock , and i know for sure there are both good and evil built into everybody brain , which road we choose depends on ones own choices , i been down both roads in life , i'm happy to say , i chose the road of giving , and treating others as i would like them to treat me ,
