the wifes mower

Post by actionpack on September 15th 2011, 7:31 pm

hopped on the zero turn to get trailor to load blocks i was useing to hold down my portable car port , started engine and it started popping and makeing a popping noise in the engine , parked it and walked away from it for a while , i been on a unlucky string of fixing broken stuff here lately and i thought for a day i was all caught up on fixing stuff , when back to it later and started it and it sounded like a valve sticking , this is a 1995 kohler 16 hp motor on this machine , and i had the valves done on this old mower a long time ago , went and got some atf fluid out of garage and poured some in the carb , she blew smoke for 5 minutes befor it cleared up , its back purring again , i hope DH2

anything is possable dino , it just did'nt sound like a gas problem , to much knocking going on in the engine , this engine is a twin appoised engine , i havent decarboned this engine in a long time , hope its fixed , you neer know about the fuel , i always put marine stabel in my fill can , but who knows anymore how much water there peddleing at these gas stations anymore , when i use to work for a station , we were required to stick the tanks for water , now i don't no how much they stay on top of this problem ,

Glad it worked for ya Bill. It's amazing how, if we just give a few minutes thought to a problem, sometimes we can find the easiest solution. Hope it holds.

that was a old school trick from yrs ago , the older engines could take a hit of atf , but i don't think i would use it on any engines we build today , them wisconsin engines were tuff engines jeff , ya need to play with it and get it going again , wife mowed a couple of lawns yesterday and the old kholer engine decided it was time to use that sticking valve again , Cool
