No storm in this neck of the woods. Maybe Len rode off in his Chevy didn't get back.

Good morning ladies! Been a busy few weeks with Chevy troubles and the wife getting ready to start back to school. Things will start calming down here soon. I've had some bike troubles also. The engine and battery lights would come on and then it would start discharging. Then it would start charging and lights would go out. Then one day the light didn't go out and she shut down on Route 119. Shrug Nobody with a trailer to get me home so I called "One Armed Bob" . Bob brought me a new battery and she fired right up ... all was right with the world. Rode for 3 days without any warning lights .... until Saturday ... same lights. Now I am thinking maybe the voltage regulator is bad. Trying to find a way to test it cause I can't just stand back and keep throwing $$ at it till I get lucky. The damned battery was $225. A voltage regulator is around $200. I'm retired and on a fixed income ... ARK

I understand the fixed income thing. If you haven't done it yet try checking the battery voltage with everything off. Then start the bike, rev it a little 1500-1700 RPM then check the voltage and see it comes up. Voltage should go up to 13.5-14.5? when it is revved.

Yeah it comes up to over 13.5. The problem is intermittent. You can be running along fat dumb and happy and it will happen. Then after continuing to ride for a while it will go away. Shrug

Almost sounds like a loose connection or a relay going bad.

Yeah ... they had "issues" with voltage regulators in 2013 ... probably should have been recalled. hd1
